I guess one of my older renders was featured on the front page recently and as a result, my Mass Effect renders have gotten a lot of attention. Usually, I would think that's pretty awesome. The idea that someone is just discovering some of my art that I worked on over a year or two ago makes me pretty happy. It's also pretty great to get nice comments on renders that I may have forgotten about in the time since I first worked on them.

That said, it's also pretty frustrating to see the type of comments that drove me away from dA last year.

Let me be clear about the type of comments I'm talking about. I'm open and appreciative of any feedback of artistic or technical nature (shadows or textures don't look quite right, figure is posed in an awkward position, scene composition feels unbalanced). What I DO NOT appreciate are comments hostile to my interpretation of lore... fucking VIDEO GAME lore:

SHEPARD IS DEAD!
SHEPARD IS A WOMAN!
SHEPARD BELONGS WITH MIRANDA!
SHEPARD IS A DEAD WOMAN AND BELONGS WITH MIRANDA! (there are unused audio files that suggest they were a pairing, so that's what I ship!)

Mass Effect appealed to so many people because it allowed for players to create their own story by giving us choices. You may have romanced Tali or Ashley or Garrus. You may have executed Wrex on Virmire or recruited Morinth on Omega. You may have been a renegade who chose to synthesize with the Reapers. You have your own personal story. So why can't I have mine?

Now, I leave you with a link to a conversation with this idiot:

It perfectly encapsulates the type of bullshit that drives me nuts, and drives me away from dA.

Bye for now.

Dude, your headcannon isn't the same as mine, and that's just fine.
I really dig your renders, thanks for sharing them. :)
