Having fought countless crime syndicates, a rogue Spectre, and even the Reapers, nothing strikes fear in the heart of Garrus Vakarian... except the thought of babysitting a 4 year old asari.

A direct followup to A Woman's TouchThe idea behind this piece is that Tali and Garrus are a happy, yet childless couple (I'm sticking as close to canon on this one, so bear with me). Thus, their cabin on the Normandy is a complete mess with tons of Tali's salvaged tech, Garrus' sniper rifles and assault rifles, and a bunch other kid-unfriendly stuff lying around.

Uh oh....I can just "see" the look on Tali's face at Zia greeting Garrus, and It's Giving Her Ideas. Ideas that Garrus will bluster about but secretly support ;)

The only problem I have with pieces like these, where Shepard and Liara have a kid, is that people always make the child look too old. Asari live for thousands of years. By the time Shepard is an old man/woman, any daughter he/she would have with Liara would still be a toddler if that yet here she looks like she's eight or nine (by Asari standards at least). Other than that, it's still a great looking piece and definitely 'daww' inducing, that's just a pet-peeve of mine when it comes to fan-art like this.

Long lived doesn't always mean long childhood. Sea turtles don't stay little for 50 years man. Lobsters aren't adolescents for centuries.

It makes no evolutionary sense for a longer up-ramp in hitting *genetic* adulthood. We're sort of the odd one's out in it taking so long for us to hit the "adult" stage. I would imagine asari would hit young adult/teen around the same time as human children, then stall until they hit Maidenhood.

Now, adult in the sense of asari law? You have a better argument. Liara had just hit that at a century, she's actually a bit *young* for a child, being barely a century old. Most asari don't hit "Baby" stage until halfway into their third century.

That actually is a good point. But I would argue that since Asari are incredibly humanoid (to the point where there's a popular fan-theory of a shared ancestry due to meddling from the Protheans) I would consider Asari aging to be at least similar to humans, just stretched out. But I guess in the end, it's never been outright confirmed in-universe how exactly Asari aging works so I guess what I have is just a theory, same as you. Let me reiterate, I DO like this piece. It's very adorable and a nice look at what a future could be like for them. It's just whenever I see a still-the-same-age Shepard with an Asari child who looks eight or nine, something just feels... Off about it. But that's just me and it is a major nit-pick in an otherwise great piece of fan-art.
